The Examination of Mary Bailey< no role > Singlewoman Lodging in ye. Parish
of St. Clement Danes in the County of Middx Taken the 4th. Day of
Augst. 1739 Who upon her Voluntary Oath saith yt. she is Pregnant
with Child or Childn. wch when Born will be a Bastard or Bastards
& likely to become Chargeable to the sd. Parish of St. Clemt. Danes
she this Examint. being Poor & not able to maintaine the same
when Born And further upon her Oath saith yt. one Patrick Hart< no role >
Tripeman did begett the sd. Child or Childn. on her Body she this
Examint. at such time liveing as a Yearly hired Servt . with one Mr.
Barnfield Tripeman in Hog Island & he the sd. Patrick Hart at the
same time being Journeyman to the sd. Mr Barnfield & liveing in
the House, there became acquainted with her & had Carnall
Knowledge of her Body Sevl. times at one of wch times he got
her with the Bastard Child or Childn. with wch she is now
Pregnant & that he & no other Person is the true & real
Father thereof And this Examint. further saith yt. about two
Years ago she was hired to & lived with one Mr. Betts Victualler
in the sd. Parish of St. Clement Danes as a Yearly hired Servt .
for the space of one Year at the Yearly Wages of three Pounds
and hath not since that time Rented £10 a Year lived with any
other person as a Yearly hired Servt. for the space of one Year
or otherwise gained a Settlement in any other Place to her
knowledge or beleife
