day of November 1783 at the Parish of
St Ann within he Liberty of Westmr. in
the County of Midsex upon an Inquisitn.
touching the Death of a Man
unknown lying dead in the said
Parish Liberty and County

Amos Stevenson< no role > at No 9 Glanville Street
Carpenter on his Oath saith, That on Friday
last the Seventh Instant about half past
five o'Clock in the Evening this Dept. was
coming from Work and in Oxford Street
between Dean Street and Chapel Street
in the Parish of St. Ann Westmr . he saw
the Deced [..] Sitting upon the foot Pavemt.
with his Back against a House, being
Speechless and unable to move himself
Says that he and some Sailors intended
to take the Deced to a Publick House there
the Sign of the Bird in Hand , but the
Land lord, would not suffer him to be
brought into the House Says that a
Gentleman came by who said that he
would pay for a Coach to carry the Deced
to the Workhouse belonging to the Parish
of St. Ann , and Deced was accordingly
put into a Coach, and this Dept. & another
Man went with him in the Coach to the
Workhouse , and were there told that
the Deced could not be taken in without
an Order from an Overseer which was
procured Says that the Deced never
spoke in the Coach and that he died in
the Coach in about a Minute after the
Coach stopped at the Workhouse Door
Says that he saw no Marks of violence
upon the Deced, and believes that he died
in a natural Way.
