Informations taken this Twenty eighth [..] day of
November 1778 at the Parish of St. Margaret
within the Liberty of Westmr . in the County of
Midsex upon an Inquisition touching the
death of a Woman unknown lying dead in
the said Parish Liberty and County.

Francis Griffin< no role > One of the Keepers of St.
James's Park at Story's Gate Westmr. on his
Oath saith, That yesterday Morning about
half past six o'Clock (Nov. 27th.) he went to open
the Park Gate at the Bottom of the Stone Steps
coming out of Duke Street in the parish St. Margaret That on opening
the Door he found the Deced lying down at
the bottom of the Stone Steps, upon her left side
with his Head towards Mr. Wagnears Place Says that a soldier came who felt the Deced
Hand and said it was Cold, and she appeared
to Dept. to be dead, [..] but he saw no Blood
nor any hurt upon the Deced, Says that
the outer Door opening into Duke Street
was not Locked, that NIght, and had not
been Locked since last Monday, the Lock
being out of order, had Dept, believes
that the Deced Accidentally fell down the
Stone Steps, and reced the hurt which caused
her death.
