Deced was in a Barge along side the said Ship pulling the Stone
to rights to sow it down, and the Deced having Kock'd the
tackle to the side of the Barge, the Wood being rotten the
Love tackle gave way and the Stone of about 5 or 6 hundred
Wright forced the Deced against the side of the Baye in the
hold, the Deced called out Murder and the Deponent went with
others to his Assistance, and the Deced was put into a Whorry
and brought to Westmr. Hospital , Deponent saith it was wholly
accidental from the Deceds having fixed the tackle himself
to the side of the Barge which gave way as before mentioned
says Surgeon Sharp was there at the time and defaced the Poor
Man's Wound which was on his Right High, says the Wound
appeared to be very large.

Verdict of the Jury touching the Death of Peter Ryley< no role > .
That the said Peter Ryley< no role > on the 6th. day of July 1776 being
in a Barge along side a Ship called the Turly lying at Eldridges
Wharf Battle Bridge putting Stone to rights hoisted from
the said Ship to sow it down in the hold of the Baye, and
hooking the love tackle to the side of the Baye, the
Wood being rotten the Love tackle gave way and the Stone
which was lowering of about five or six hundred Wright forced
the Deced against the side of the Baye and by Means thereof
the said Peter Ryley received a violent and Mortal Wound
on his Right High of which he the said Peter Ryley< no role > from the
said 6th, day of July 1776, to the 13th. of the same Month in
the same Year in the Westmr. Hospital in James Street in the
Parish of St. Margaret Westmr, did Languish and languishing
did Live on which said 13th, day of July 1776, the said Peter
Ryley
< no role > in the said Hospital did Dye. And so the Jurors on their
Oath say that the said Peter Ryley< no role > in manner and by the
means aforesaid accidentally casually and by Misfortune came to
