Informations taken this Eight day of
July 1776 at the Parish of St. Martin in the
Fields within the Liberty of Westmr . in the
County of Midsex upon on Inquisition touching
the death of David Phillpott< no role > lying dead in the
said Parish Liberty and County.

Thomas Denham< no role > Servant to William Phillpott< no role > of
Northumberland Street in the Parish of St. Martin in the
Fields Carman on his Oath saith, That on Wednesday
Morning(July 3d.) about four o'Clock in the Morning
David Phillpott the Deced and this Dept. went in Mr.
Phillpott's Barge from Scotland Yard in order to go
to Wool [..] for land, Says that when they were
in the Barge upon the River Thomas near the
Isle of Dogs ,SaysThat the Deced was at one
End of the Barge and hauling up the Leeboard
and having the Rope under his Foot upon the
Gunnell, that the Weight of the Leeboard forced
the Rope from under the Deced's foot and he
immediately fell over Board, the Barge being
then under Sail, Says that he endeavoured to
assist the Deced but that he did not come above
water until this Dept. was out of his Reach
and Deced sunk again and did not rise afterwd
to Dept. Knowledge and Dept. says that there
was no Person in the Barge with the Deced and
this Dept. where Deced fell over board that the Deced was in the Head, and
Dept. in the Stern, and Says that the Deced was
Accidentally Drowned
