CITY of YORK .

At the General Quarter Sessions of the Peace of our Sovereign Lord< no role > the King, now held at the Guildhall of the said
City in and for the said City, and County of the same City, on Friday the 20th Day of April in the
38th. Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord< no role > King GEORGE the Third over Great-Britain, and
so forth, beforethe Right Hon< no role > William Withers< no role > Esquire Recorder of the said City
Robert Sinclair< no role > Esquire of Council with the same City
Thomas Smith< no role > John Hay< no role > and Theophilus Davye Garencieres
Esquires , Aldermen of the same City, and others, their Fellows, Aldermen of the said City, Justices assigned to keep
the Peace of the said Lord the King in and for the City aforesaid, and County of the same City; and also to hear
and determine divers Felonies, Trespasses, and other Misdemeanors committed within the said City and County of
the same, and so forth.

By Virtue of a late Act of Parliament, intitled, An Act for the better Repairing and Amending the High-
ways, and for settling the Rates of the Carriage of Goods, his Majesty< no role > 's Justices of the Peace of the said
City of York , and County of the same City, at the said Quarter Sessions assembled, have assessed and rated,
and do assess and rate, the Price of all Land-carriage of Goods whatsoever, to be brought into the said City
of York, by any common Waggoner or Carrier, at the respective Rates and Prices following: That is to say,

From Askrigg to York, for each Stone Weight, Fivepence.
Beverley to York, for each Stone Weight, Three pence Halfpenny.
Bradford to York, for each Stone Weight, Three pence.
Bedale to York, for each Stone Weight, Three pence.
Bridlington to York, for each Stone Weight, Four pence.
Colne to York, for each Stone Weight, Four pence.
Durham to York, for each Stone Weight, Seven pence.
Doncaster to York, for each Stone Weight, Four pence, and for each Pa [..] fourteen Pounds to the
Stone, Four Shillings.
Gisbrough to York, for each Stone Weight, Six pence.
Halifax to York, for each Stone Weight, Four pence.
Hull to York, for each Stone Weight, Four pence, and for each Pack, at fourteen Pounds to the Stone,
Four Shillings.
Huddersfield to York, for each Stone Weight, Four pence.
Howden to York, for each Stone Weight, Three pence.
Helmsley to York, for each Stone Weight, Three pence.
Kendal to York, for each Stone Weight, Seven pence.
Kirby-Moorside to York, for each Stone Weight, Three pence.
Knaresborough to York, for each Stone Weight, Two pence.
London to York, for each Stone Weight, One Shilling, and one penny and Three half pence, until the first Day of
November next, and from thence to the next Easter Sessions, One Shilling and Two pence.

Leeds to York, for each Stone Weight,Three halfpence. two pence
Middleham to York, for Stone Weight, Three pence Halfpenny.
Masham to York, for each Stone Weight, Four pence.
Manchester to York, for each Stone Weight, Six pence.
Malton to York, for each Stone Weight, Two pence.
Newcastle to York, for each Stone Weight, Six pence.
Nottingham to York, for each Stone Weight, Ten pence.
Otley to York, for each Stone Weight, Three pence.
Pontefract to York, for each Stone Weight, Two pence Halfpenny.
Ripon to York, for each Stone Weight, Three pence.
Richmond to York, for each Stone Weight, Four pence.
Sheffield to York, for each Stone Weight, Five pence.
Skipton to York, for each Stone Weight, Three pence.
Scarborough to York, for each Stone Weight, Four pence.
Stamford to York, for each Stone Weight, Nine pence.
Stokesley to York, for each Stone Weight, Four pence.
Thirsk to York, for each Stone Weight, Two pence Halfpenny.
Wakefield to York, for each Stone Weight, Three pence.
Wiggan to York, for every twelve Pounds Weight of Pewter, Six pence.
Whitby to York, for each Stone Weight, Five pence.
Yarm to York, for each Stone Weight, Four pence.

AND it is ordered, That these Rates be printed and distributed about the City; and that a Copy thereof
be hung up in some public Place in the same City, to which all Persons may resort for their Information,
And, to the end, that no common Waggoner or Carrier may be ignorant of the Law in this Behalf, they are
hereby required to take Notice, That none of them is or are to take for Carriage of any Goods and Merchan-
dizes, above the Rates and Prices hereby set, upon Pain to forfeit for every such Offence, the Sum of Five
Pounds, to be levied by Distress and Sale of his and their Goods, by Warrant of any two Justices of the Peace ,
where such Waggoner or Carrier shall reside, in Manner as by the said Act is appointed, to the Use of the
Party grieved.
