SirSt. Thomas' Hospital Augt. 28. 1804

I wrote to your in the 30th April 1803 at the Prince of Wales's
Hotel in Bond Street , respecting the Arrears in a Rent Charge of
£19.18.- P Ann. puery out of land belonging to your at Drury-
-houses new York, & payable in equal Partners, to the four Royal
Hospitals in London. Not receiving any Answer to the Letter
above referred to, the Treasurer of this Hospital wrote to your
himself on the 30 Nov. followg, as St Austle in Cornwall , where
it was undruted you than ever on Military duty, & that Letter
(Perhaps it was never received) not having produced any Answer.
from you Mr Chamber this Hospital's Agent having business
on Yorkshire last Spring, to used an opportunity of calling upon
your Agent (you at that time being in London) & represented to him
the Necessity & Property of having these Arrear settled, & of the Rent
infuture being annually & regularly paid; & he promised to report
his Application to your, and hope you would give Orders for its
being attended to. But as some Months have once clapsed, &
the Matter remains in statue que, I am under the Necessity, once
more, of prepery it upon your Consideration, & flatter myself
you will immediately order a Remittance for the three years
Arrears due at Lady day last, say fifty nine pound 14/-

I am favoured with your Letter of yesterday, date on the
subject of the Waid Communication relative to a Portion of land
belonging to the Hospital being necessary for presenting the
Works of the Kennet & Avon Canal: and as it is impossible to
page till you have been on the Spot, & reported your Sen-
-timents thereon, I shall suspensry my Opinion till I am favoured
therewith.Serve my [..] the honorary Officer of
Treasurer to this extensive Charity it has been my determined
Resolution not to encourage any Attention of its property, even
under an Act of Parliament, if it can be avoided. I therefore
by to observe that an Exchange would be move agreeable to
my Wishes, & I beleive those of the Grand Committee provided
it can be effected on Tenses advantageous is to the Hospital.
You will be so good as advise me as soon as [..]
