December St. Thomas Hospital 7th July 1802
St Thomas Hospital of which I have the Honour of being
Treasurer has a small Estate at Gosport the lease of which expence
Ladyday next; as it my anxious Wish to promote the Interest of
this noble Institution, you will most particularly oblige me by
employing a proper Person to ascertain the Value of the Premises upon
a repairing Lease of 21 Years. We have already had Application for
them, but as I understand they are well situate for Trade I hope
they well commance a respectable responsible Tenant .The present
Rent ( says a letter dated 19 Feby. 1799) in £80 P Ann. I am
persuaded you well excuse the Liberty I take engesing you this
Trouble being lately

In the Absence of the Treasurer, who set of this Morning to pass
a Week or ten days on Norfolk, I beg leave to acknowledge the Receipt
of your Letter to him of the 16th. evening a dropt of Creckell & Co. entsdaites for £35 [..]
which at maturity will be placed to your credit for half a yearn rent
due from R. Daniel at Michmas last. The Treasurer will be pleased
to hear that the Daniel has received such Assistance as well enable
him to give Scope to her Industry & Management, for next to the Security
that is given to [..] the Hospital by the Prosperity of its Tenants is the pleasure
arising to these who are concerned in the Management of its Affairs from
that very Prosperity we know that the Hospital Revenues are applied
to the but Purposes the Relief of Indegence of money, of when we also
know that those Revenues are deserved from Somers which yeeted them
chearfully & gratefully, the Institution may he said to be abeneficent
are indeced; to be blest in what it receives as well as gives.

I am obliged by Sophis Turners grateful Remembrances and hope
Dr Luthur shall has resolved her to served that [..] I am &

The Treasurer has received your Pocket enclosing the Correspon-
dence between you & the Gentleman of the Ordnance office relative to
a Building now erecting near the Hospital Estate at Avely put the
Purpose of many Gun powder etc, from which you state Apprehensions
of probable & very serious Injury both of a public & private Nature.
