The Order of John Barnfather< no role > and Edward
Gray
< no role > Esquires two of his Majesty's Justices of
the Peace in and for the said County one whereof is
of the Quorum, and both residing next unto the Limits of
the Parish Church within the Parish of Saint Mary
Le Bone in the said County
made the Twentieth Day of August
1789
concerning a Female
Bastard Child, lately born in the Parish of St.
Mary Le Bone aforesaid, of the Body of
Ann Burrell< no role > single Woman .

WHEREAS is hath appeared unto us the said Justices, as well upon the Complaint
of the Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of St.
Mary Le Bone as upon the Oath of the said Ann Burrell< no role >
that the the said Ann Burrell< no role > on the Second Day of
July now last past, was delivered of a Female Bastard Child, at No. 18 in
Market Row in the said Parish of St. Mary Le Bone in the said
County and the the said Female Bastard Child is like to be chargeable
to the said Parish :and further, that John Pooke< no role >
of Fareham in thesaid County of Hants Gent did beget the said
Bastard Child on the Body of her the said Ann Burrell< no role > and Whereas the said
John Pooke< no role > hath appeared before us but hath not shewed any
sufficient came why he the said John Pooke< no role > shall not be the
reputed father of the said Bastard Child
We therefore, upon Examination of the Cause and Circumstance of the Premises, as well
upon the Oath of the said Ann Burrell< no role > as otherwise, do hereby
adjudge him the said John Pooke to be the reputed Father of the said
Bastard Child.

And thereupon we do Order, as well for the better Relief of the said Parish of
St. Mary Le Bone as for the Sustentation and Relief of the said Bastard Child, that the
said John Pooke< no role > shall and do forthwith, upon Notice of this our Order,
pay or cause to be paid to the said Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said
Parish of St. Mary Le bone or to some or one of them, the Sum of Two Pound
for and towards the Lying-in of the said Ann Burrell< no role > and the Maintenance
of the said Bastard Child, to the Time of making this our Order.

And we do also hereby further Order, that the said John Pooke< no role > shall likewise
pay, or cause to be paid, to the Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said
Parish of St. Mary Le Bone for the Time being, or to some or one of them, the Sum of
Three Shillings Weekly and every Week from the present Time, for and towards the
Keeping, Sustentation; and Maintenance of the said Bastard Child, for and during so long
Time as the said Bastard Child shall be chargeable to the said Parish of St. Mary Le Bone

And we do further Order, that the said Ann Burrell< no role > shall also pay,
or cause to be paid to the said Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said
Parish of St. Mary Le Bone for the Time being, or to some or one of them, the Sum of
Six Pence Weekly and every Week, so long as the said Bastard Child
shall be chargeable to the said Parish of St. Mary Le Bone , in case the shall not nurse
and take Care of the said Child herself.
