habited Houses, imposed by an Act made in the last Session of Parliament,
and for granting to His Majesty other Duties upon all Inhabited Houses in
Great Britain, and for amending the Said Act and also for amending so
such of an Act made in the Seventeenth Year of the Reign of His present
Majesty, as imposes a Duty upon all Servants retained on employed in the Se-
veral Capacities therein mentioned; and that their are certain Clauses and
Provisions contained in the said Bill, which, the Petitoners apprehend, will
greatly affect the Trade and Interest of the Inhabitants of the said City; and
therefore praying, that they may be heard, by their Counsel, against the said
Clauses and Provisions and that they may have Such Relief therein as to the
House shall seem meet.
Ordered,

That the said Petition be referred to the Consideration of the Committee of
the whole House, to whom the said Bill is committed; and that the Pe-
titioners be heard, by their Counsel, before the said Committee, upon their
Petition, if they think fit.

An ingrossed Bill for explaining, amending, and rendering more effectual,
an Act, passed in the 23d Year of the Reign of the late Majesty King
George the Second, for the more easy and speedy Recovery of Small Debts
within [..] Hamlet was read the third Time
Resolved,

That the Bill do pass.
Ordered,

That Mr. Byng do carry the Bill to the Lords, and desire their Con-
currence.

Mr. Penruddock reported from the Committee, to whom the Bill for en-
larging the Term and Powers of an Act, passed in the 30th Year of the
Reign of King George the Second, for amending, widening, and keeping in
Repair, the Road from the Turnpike Road at the Bottom at Shaw Hill,
in the Parish of Melksham , through Googes Lane, Corsham, Biddestone, and
West Yatton, to the Turnpike Road at Upper Combe, in the Parish of Castlen
Combe , in the County of Wilts, was committed; that the Committee had
examined the Allegations of the Bill, and found the same to be true; and
that the Committee had gone through the Bill,, and made several Amend-
ments thereunto, which they had directed him to report to the House; and
he read the Report in his Place, and afterwards delivered the Bill, with the
Amendments, in at the Table, where the Report was read.

And the House being informed, that Several other Amendments are ne-
cessary to be made to the Said Bill;
Ordered,

That the Said Bill be re-committed.
Ordered,

That the Said Bill be re-committed to the Committee to whom the Same
was committed.

Sir Herbert Mackworth< no role > reported from the Committee, to whom the
Petition of James Berkenhout< no role > , of Great Russel Street, in the County of
Middlesex , Gentleman , in Behalf of himself, and of Thomas Clark< no role > , that the
Town of Leeds, in the County of York, Dyer, was referred; that the
Committee had examined the Matter of Fact contained in the said Petition,
and had directed him to report a State thereof to the House; and be read
she Report in his Place, and afterwards delivered it in at the Table, where
the Same was read.
