Middlesex

To his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the County of Middlesex in their
General Session of the Peace to be holden on Thursday the eighth day of
of September 1774 at Hicks-Hall in Saint John Street in and for the said
County assembled.

The Report of the Committee of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the said
County appointed to Enquire into the method of conveying Vagrants out of the
County of Middlesex and to consider and report their Opinion whether the present
or any other plan for conveying Vagrants out of the said County may best answer the
publick purpose and be most beneficial to the County.

The said Committee report

That having taken into consideration the reference to this Committee made
on the County day of April Session last (vizt.) to Enquire into the method of conveying
Vagrants out of the County of Middlesex and to consider and report their Opinion
whether the present or any other plan for conveying Vagrants out of the said County
may best answer the publick purpose and be most beneficial the County the Committee
proceeded to read [..] several Clauses in the Vagrant Act (vizt.) the Catterpart of
Sr. 7 the whole of S. 8. 10 & 11 concerning the manner of passing different sorts of
Vagabonds, when the Duplicate of the pass and examination are to be returned and bye
whom, how the Justices are to regulate the passes, and the Duty of the Officers with regard to
such Passes, The Committee read also the report of former Committee made the twenty fifth
day of April 1757 concerning the expence arising to the County from the apprehending and
passing Vagrants Etc. and likewise the Orders of Session of the fourteenth of July 1757
thereon And Moreover and Order of Session of the first March 1759 made on as report
of a Committee appointed to examine what benefit had arisen to the County from [..] the Order
of Session of the 14th. July 1757. The Committee further Proceeded to examine. John Perrin< no role > & John Lewis< no role > two of the beadles of the
Narish of St. George Hanover square in respect to such mattersasrelative to the passing
and apprehending of Vagrants as came within their knowledge and upon their respective
examinations it appeared that said Perrin had apprehended in the said Parish one John
lay< no role > a Cripple in the act of begins that said perrin carried said Lay before George Wrights< no role > Esqr. of Cambridge
Street who examined said Lay and made out his pass for York whereupon said perrin
