To the Worshipfull His Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the County
of Middlesex in their Quarter Session of the Peace Assembled.

The Humble Petition and Appeal of Richard Saunders< no role > late of
Totteridge , but now of Shenley Hill in the bounty of Hertford Gentleman .

Sheweth


That by an Order under the Hands and Seals of Edmund Byron< no role > , and
John Brettell< no role > Esquires, Two of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for the
County of Middlesex (One whereof being of the Quorum) bearing date the 15th. day of
June 1767, They the said Edmund Byron< no role > and John Brettell< no role > Did Adjudge
him the said Richard Saunders< no role > to be the Putative Father of a Male Bastard
Child begot on the Body of Jame Humfreys< no role > Singlewoman and born in the Workhouse
in Grays Inn Lane belonging to that part of the Parish of Saint Andrew Holbron
in the said County of Middlesex which lies above the Barrs And which said
Child is baptized by the Name of William And Did Order and Appoint
him the said Richard Saunders< no role > forthwith upon Notice of the aforesaid Order
to Pay or cause to be Paid to the Overseers of the Poor of that part of the
aforesaid Parish of Saint Andrew Holborn which lies above the Barrs or
to some or me of them the sum of Six pounds of lawful Money of Great
Britain by them Expended for the Relief and Maintenance of the said Male
Bastard Child, and for the Charges of the said Jane Humfreys lying in and
for other Charges and Expences Attending the same As also that he the said
Richard Saunders< no role > should Weekly and every Week from and after the Date
of the abovementioned Order Pay or cause to be paid to the said Overseers of
the Poor of that part of the aforesaid Parish of Saint Andrew Holborn which
lies above the Barrs or to some or one of them the sum of Two shillings and
Sixpence of like lawful Money for and towards the Relief and Maintenance
of the said Male Bastard Child for so long time as the same should
remain Chargeable to the said Parish Whereby Your Petitioner thinks
himself aggrieved, and Appeals to this Court against the same.

Your Petitioner therefore Prays this Court will be
pleased to appoint a day for the Hearing and Determining
of the said Appeal And that all persons concerned may
then Attend.
