Wee whose names are hereunto subscribed being of the Committee of
his Maties. Justices of the peace for this County authorized by an Order
made in May sessions last to treat with and contract with Workmen
for repaire of such part of publique Bridge called Chelsea Bridge
as is in this County, the same being very ruinous and a considerable
part thereof being broken downe by the rottenness of the piles which
supported the same, soe that an immediate rebuilding of such part
of the said Bridge as in this County is absolutely necessary,
doe hereby Certify to the Court of Generall Quarter Sessions of the peace
holden for this County That wee have severall times assembled
and mett together in relation to the premisses, and received the
proposalls of Severall Workmen touching the rebuilding of the
aforesaid part of the said Bridge, And have with great care and
deliberation considered what timber planks and other materialls
were proper to be provided and used and what Workmanship is
proper to be performed in the rebuilding thereof, And to the
intent that the same may be substantially and perfectly
rebuilt with good and sound Oaken timber, piles, planks and all
other materialls wee have taken a contract form William Butler< no role >
of New Brentford in this County Carpenter and John Mills< no role > of the
parish of Littleton in the same County Carpenter for the doeing
thereof, who have by Articles of agreement bearing date the
thirtyeth day of June last under their hands and seales made
between them of the one part and us the said Justices of the
other part covenanted and agreed for the sume of £680: well
and sufficiently to rebuild the aforesaid part of the said Bridge
with good and sound oaken timber, piles, planks Tinssell heads,
posts, rails, gravell, Joyners worke, painting, Iron worke, and all
other materialls of the scantlings and according to the Method
and manner specifyed in the Account or estimate written under
the said Articles, together with all other worke and materialls
as well not mentioned therein as menconed in a good
