Whereas Complaint hath been made unto as whose Hands & Seals
are hereunto sett Two of Her Maties: Justices of the Peace for
the County of Middlesex (Quromns) by the Churchwardens & Overseers
of the Poor for the Parish of St Giles in the feilds in the said County
That Elizabeth Hobbs< no role > widow is lately come into the Said Parish end [..]
to Settle herselfe there Contrary to Law And Whereas it [..]
unto as the said Justices that the said Elizabeth Hobbs< no role > is [..] to
become chargeable to the Said Parish And upon Examination of the
said Elizabeth Hobbs< no role > taken upon Oath it [..] farther
appeth unto as That John Hobbs< no role > late husband to her the
said Elizabeth in his life time & before Marriage was a hired
servant by the year to: one Parish a Higher of the
Parish of Cranfield in the County of Bedford wth: whom he has
one whole year & that since he came from & out of the said Ser
ve do not find the said John Hobbs< no role > had gained any Settle
elswhere Wee the Said Justices do adjudge the said Elizabeth
Hobbs
< no role > to be legally Settled at Cranfield in the County of
Bedford And Doe therefore will & require the Constables of
the Parish of St Giles in the Feilds forthwth: to remove the said
Elizabeth Hobbs< no role > from their Said Parish & convey her out of
the County of Middlesex to the Town of Barnet in the County
of Hartford wth: we thinke the most proper & direct way to the
Said Parish of Cranfield in the Said County of Bedford to
be from thence conveyed to Cranfield aforesaid
delivered to the Churchwardens & Overseers of the Poor who
hereby required to receive her into their care & to provide for
her according to Law Given under our Hands & Seals the 9th
day of November Anno Die 1703

To the Constables of the Parish of st Giles in the
Feilds aforesaid & to all other Offices whom it
may Concerne
