The Examinacon of Elizabeth< no role > [..] wife of Thomas
Hales
< no role > in St Stephens in the Citty of Canterberry Hawker
taken before me Joshua Galliard< no role > Esqr one of his Maties. Justices of
the peace for the said County the 26th. day of May Anno
Dui 1698.

The said Elizabeth Hales< no role > being charged by Thomasin Darnell< no role > of
Edmonton in ye said County widow That she ye said Elizabeth Hales< no role >
did lately breake ye house of ye said Thomasin Darnell< no role > in
Edmonton aforesaid in ye day time & did then & there feloniously
take out of ye said house Two gownes two petticoats one hat made of
shavings & severall peices of Linnen Cloth of ye goods of her the said
Thomasin & her daughter Margarett Darnell< no role > All wch were found
in her possession the 25th. of this instant May.

She ye said Elizabeth upon her said Examinacon before me
this day Confesseth that she had ye said goods in her Coat And that
a well sett man wearing his owne house lank &of herbrowne about
30. yeares of age (to her wholly unknown) did deliver ye said goods
to her wrapped up in a white Apron & therewth gave her
six pence to carry ye same to ye Bell in Edmonton aforesaid and
punised to come thither & take them of her But utterly denies
that she did break or was in Company of any other that did breake
ye said house or take away any of ye said goods out of ye said house
or was any way privy or accessary to it
