The Informacon of Elizabeth< no role > (wife of Edward) Weeks< no role >
of St. James Clarkenwel in the sd County aforesaid
taken upon Oath before me, out of their Maties
Justices of peace Etc. in the sd County, the 6th day
of September Anno Dim 1690.

Who saith, That this Sunday Robert Serle< no role > Cleing her County
mare & of Long acquaintance came Cashe Crohen a Carrierg
frequently haddon to her the Informt. house Situat upon the
Highway, or Road side, And out of his poquet took a smal
thinn Slitt Deal Box, wh. was bruised & Shatter'd a pieces Especia
ally, the Lidd (& therefore was tyed together) wherein, there is
a pair of broken Rose pendants wth. 8. Diamonds in each
set in Silver; & 12. Shaking Bodkins 9. whereof had, a Diamond
set in silver upon each of them; & off the others 3. Bodkins,
3. Diamonds were rubb'd and loose in the sd Box, In all 28:
Diamonds: And also another large Diamond, set also in Silver
in a King, fix'd to a Bodkin like she other twelve This
Informt. further saith, that he the sd Robt Serle< no role > told her, that
his late Mrs. Warren's Waggon was, by divers Highway-men
on the 3d. day of March Last in the Evening lead aside into a
Green Lane , near the Road, about 2. Miles on this side Welwin
in the County of Herts, & there, by them rawsackd, & Rob'd, as
He the sd Serle, said, Richard Wilson< no role > the Waggoner reported.
& that she sd Robert serle did further tell this Informt. That
being Tapster In the Inn at the Sign of the Rosed Crown in
Welwin aforesd, wch. was the Stage, whether the Waggon
was to come & remain that night, she the sd Serle, wth. one
Jonathan Hopkins Hostler, his fellow servant were sent to watch
she sd waggon, & Goods, that were in the sd Ransacking thrown,
& Scatt'red abroad, till the morning-Light; when, they might see
to Reload them, wch. when they haddon, The (amongst others
that Staid behind) looking, & keeping upon the Ground near,
or about the place, where the waggon was ransack't & loaden
again, amongst Scatter'd Straw found the sd Box, & Jewels.
Moreover,This Informt. Saith, That he she sd. Robert
Serle demanded of her, whether she sd Jewels were good
for anything. And that, shoe answer'd him, (according to
the skill (shee said) Shee had) truly, No. 1 and that Shee said
shee thought, they were made for a play-house: shee
says also,That he ask'd her, if shee would give him 3s. or
£1. of Tobacco for them, & that shee reply'd That shee
did not think them worth so much. This Informant
further declares, & Says, That as they two were talking
of the Matter, There came one Seignr. Guzman, aspamaind
& Merchant (who had married a Kris woman of hersd)
who told them, They were Diamonds, Whereupon, Shee
says that Robert Serle second to be very much surpriz'd
& Concern'd & said, that if they be Diamonds, They
belong to Sr. John Brownlow< no role > , or my old Mrs. Warren
