"And the said Committee further Report That The
"Revd.. Mr.. Evans the Chaplain was Examined by the
"Committee and stated as follows; Vizt. The Conduct of
"Joseph Burks< no role > during his Imprisonment in the New House
"of Correction for the County of Middlesex as far as it came
"within my Observation was as followeth "When he came
"with the rest of the Prisoners to Chapel his Posture at times
"was irreverent and unbecoming he was admonish'd both
"privately and Publickly that external Decorum was highly
"necessary as being exemplary to the Ignorant part of the
"Prisoners I often observed his demeanours as well as
"that of One John Smith< no role > to be very disgusting and improper
"by smiling winking and nodding their heads when
"particular parts of the Litany and Prayers were Read
"Vizt." From all Sedition Privy Conspiracy and Rebellion "
"Bless and keep the Magistrates Etc. "generally producing a
"smile or laugh and the Prayers in time of War and
"Tumults for the Parliament the King and Royal Family
"any portion of holy writ denoting the Divinity and
"atonement of Christ whether Read or Expounded generally
"productive of a Nod or Shrug, the Governor and I
"Coincided in Opinion that in Consequence of their
"improper Conduct it would be more prudent to debar
"their coming to Chapel in future when I privately
"Admonished Mr.. Burks he treated my Admonition with
"great indifference saying that he had been little used
"to attend places of Public Worship or to that Effect

"And Your said Committee further Report
