New prison was in want of a Chalice a Table some Table Cloths and
Napkins for the Celebration of the Communion and that some more
Books of Common prayer with the Singing Psalms annexed were wanting
for the Use of the prisoners It is the Opinion of the Committee that
twelve Books of the Common prayer with the Singing psalms annexed a
Ten Chalice a Table Two decent Table Cloths and four napkins be forthwith
procured for the said purposes and that the said things be delivered into the
Care of the Keeper of New prison and that he do take Need to have the Linen
Washed when necessary

The said Committee further Report
that having taken into Consideration so much of the Act of parliament
made and passed in the Sixteenth Year of his present Majestys Reign
Instituled "An Act to Authorise for a limited time the punishment by hard
"Labour of Offenders who for certain Crimes are or shall become liable to be
"Transported to any of his Majestys Colonies or Plantations" as respects the
preparing the House of Correction for the reception of such Offenders and
for their Employment Regulation and Government and it appearing to the
Committee from the Examination of Mr. Edward Hall< no role > Governor of the
House of Correction at Clerkenwell that at present there is no place within
the said Prison capable of holding or suited to the Employment of the said
Convicts seperate from the prisoners pursuant to the directions Contained
in the said Act It is the Opinion of this Committee from the
number of Convicts which have received sentence under the said
Act and are already Confined in the said House of Correction that proper
accomodations ought forthwith to be made in the said prison for the
Confinement and Employment of the said Convicts pursuant to the
directions contained in the said Statute and that proper Erections and
accommodations for the present may be Easily and fitley be made for the
Confinement and Employment of the said Convicts behind the present
prison in the Garden belonging to the said House of Correction

The said Committee Report that for
rendering the House of Correction more Secure against the attempts of the
Convicts therein Confined they have ordered proper Iron Spikes to be fixed
upon the Cross Wall in the said prison which has lately been repaired and
also have given directions for the Repair of the Gates in the said Wall under
the inspection of the Committees Surveyor

The Committee do also further Report that
having reassumed the Consideration of letting the Tap at Clerkenwell
Bridewell
