Report touching the matters to them referred by the said
recited Order, they having not yet reced any Satisfactory
method, plans, or proposalls for rebuilding the Said Bridge,
the Engineer to whom application was in that behalf made
haveing been prevented from taking an effectual view and
from laying any method, plans, or proposalls before the
Committee by reason of the late great Frost, It is Ordered by
this Court that it be And It is hereby recommended and
referred to the Committee of Justices above named or any
three of them to procure such method, plans, & proposalls
to be laid before them by such Engineer or skilfull Persons
as aforesaid as may be most proper for rebuilding the Said
Bridge with stone in a substantial & Workman like manner
so as it may be Sufficient to carry off of the water comeing
down the River Brent aforesaid, and also be procure an
account or estimate of the charge thereof and to consider of Such
method plans & proposalls and also of such estimate, And
the said committee are desired to meet together for the
purpose aforesaid And in Order to obtaine such Meeting of
the said Committee This Court doth direct that Mr. Higgs do
wait upon the Said Sr. Joseph Ayloff< no role > Houlding Chairman
of the Said Committee who is desired to appoint & name a day
hour, & place for the Meeting of the said Committee for the
purpose aforesaid, And this Court doth order that notice of Such
meeting be given by the Cryer of this Court or his Deputy to all
the Justices of the peace above named, And the said Committee of
Justices at such meeting are desired to proceed in the matters to
them referred by this Order, and to meet afterwards on that
occasion at such time & place as they shall in that behalf
appoint, if they find such further meeting to be necessary,
And to make their Report in writing touching the premisses
to the Court of the next General Session of the peace for this
County on the County day of the same session, And Whereas
by an Order made in October sessions 1739 It was recomended
to the Said Sr. Joseph Ayloss Houlding Sr. Francis Child< no role > Knt.
& Thomas Clitherow< no role > Esquire to cause some necessary repaires
to be done to Brentford Bridge for Secureing thereof not
exceeding twenty pounds in the whole untill there could be
a convenient season for rebuilding the same, And whereas
by another Order made on the thirteenth day of September
1739 It was recomended to Sr. Thomas Reynell< no role > Bart . & Robert
Hinde Esquire to cause some necessary repaires to be done
to Such part of Chertsea Bridge as is in Middx not exceeding
fourty pounds for secureing thereof untill there could
