Order for a Meeting of the
Committee in Order to
obtain plans & proposalls
concerning the rebuilding
of Brentford Bridge , and
to proceed Etc}

Whereas the Court of General Quarter Session of the Peace
holden for the County of Middx by Adjornment on Thursday the
eighteenth day of October last having taken into consideration the
State & condition of a publick Bridge called Brentford Bridge in the
said County (Which had been usually repaired at the Charge of this
County, and which Bridge the Grand Jury had at the same session
presented to be very much out of repaire, and that it was necessary
that the Said Bridge Should be forthwith repaired or rebuilt) Did
Resolve that the aforesaid Bridge should be rebuilt with Stone
and with two arches so as there should be sufficient room under
such arches to carry off the water comeing down the River
Brent , over which the new Bridge is to be rebuilt in Stead of the
present Bridge, And the said Court was of opinion that one
Engineer or other skilfull persons should be employed to
consider of the method of rebuilding the said Bridge so as it may
answer the purpose aforesaid, and of the charge thereof, And It
was by an Order made by the Court of the said General Quarter
session recomended & referred unto Sr. Joseph Ayloff< no role > Houlding

any three of them as a Committee to employ such Engineer
or skilfull persons as they should think proper to lay before the
said Committee such method, plans, & proposalls as might be
most proper for rebuilding the said Bridge with Stone so as
it might answer the purpose aforesaid, and an account or
estimate of the Charge thereof, And the said Committee
were desired to meet for that purpose at such times and
place as they should appoint, and also to consider of Such
method plans & proposalls, And to report the Same to the
Court of the then next General Session of the Peace for the
said County, Now Forasmuch as this Court is informed
that the said Committee have not yet made any Report
and that they are not at present prepared to make their
