Order of Recomendation
to the Justices in each
Division not to nominate or
return for high Constable
any person who is a
Dealer in Brandy, beer
ale, Strong walers or other
distilled liquors}

A Debate ariseina before his Maties Justices of the peace for
this County assembled at this Present General Quarter Sessions
touching what Sort of persons may be fit & proper to be high
Constables in this County And upon consideration of the Said
matter, This Court for the reasons alledged in the debate are
of Opinion and it is accordingly Ordered that it be and it is
hereby recomended to the Justices in each Division that
they do not for the future nominate or return in their
Several Divisions for high Constable to be Elected &
appointed by this Court any person who is a Dealer in
Brandy Beer Ale Strong walers or other distilled Liquors
by wholesale or retaill.

liquors) are improper to
be appointed high
Constables}

It being alledged that Some persons following Some
Particular trades or employments (besides persons who
are Dealers in Brandy, Beer, Ale,Strong waters, or other
distilled liquors by wholesale or retail) may be unfit &
improper to be appointed high Constables in any Hundred
or Division in this County, It is Ordered by this Court that
the consideration of the Said matter be adjourned untill the
County day of the next General Sessions of the peace for
this County.

Whereas Michael Baker< no role > This name instance is in set 1524. late belonging to the Ship of her
late Matie Queen Ann called The Revenge hath exhibited
his humble petition unto this Court Setting forth That the
Petr. whilst he belonged to the aforesaid Ship (then under
the command of Capt.Carr) in the year One
thousand Seven hundred & three at Portsmouth Harbour
being fetching of water for the Said Ship unfortunately
