And this Deponent further saith that the Prisoner having some
time since alledged that the deceased Henry Griffiths< no role > was born
at a place called Strawberry in Queens County in the Kingdom
of Ireland that his the said Deceased's Father was a
Labouring Man living at the same place and that he the
Prisoner was a first Cousin of the deceased by the Mothers
SideThis Deponent soon after the Receipt of the said
Lastmentioned Letter from Binsteed and Greetham wrote a
Letter to Nicholas Morrison< no role > Esquire Crown Solicitor at
Dublin with instructions to cause an immediate inquiry
to be made into the truth of the Facts so alledged by the
Prisoner and also to insert Advertisements in the Dublin
Papers for discovery of the deceased's next of Kin And this
Deponent saith that the Solicitor of the Admiralty [..] hath since received a Letter from Thomas
Kemmes Esquire the present Crown Solicitor of Ireland
bearing date at Dublin the twenty third of March last in
the Words and Figures or to the purport and effect following
that is to say "Sir Mr. Morrison late Crown Solicitor
"having some time since resigned and I having been
"appointed your letter did not come to my hands till
"Thursday last I immediately wrote to the Queens County
"to have the inquiry made which you directed and can't
"find that there is any such Town or Village or even a Town
"Land of the name of Strawberry in that County I am
"perfectly acquainted with that County and with almost every
"Man of any Consideration or Property therein and I never
"heard of any Place there called Strawberry the Towns in that
"County are Maryborough Mr. mellich Palarlington Shadbally< no role >
"Mr Rath Ballinahill< no role > Timahoe Castletown Baress in Ossay &
"Rossnallis if the Prisoner you mention would tell on whose
"Estate the deceased lived I will get the Information you
"desire provided he was of that CountyI have caused
"the Advertisement you [..] sent me to be inserted in the
"Newspapers here if any person applys you shall be
"informed" And this Deponent further saith that on the
seventh day of this instant April he wrote and sent a Letter
to the said Mr. Kemmes in Answer to the Letter abovestated
suggesting this Deponents suspicions that the place called
"Stradbally' in the said Mr. Kemmes Letter was the place
intended by the Prisoner although from the manner of the
Prisoners pronouncing the word this Deponent might have
understood it to have been spelt "Strawberry" and therefore
desiring the said Mr. Kemmes to make the necessary
inquiry conformable to the instructions contained in this
Deponents first mentioned Letter unless he had already
discovered the next of Kin by means of Advertising
And this Deponent saith he hath reason to [..]

said Mr. Kemmes relative to the next of Kin of the
