at Mr.
Newton's Woollen draper in the Minories
Taken before me this 29th. day of April
1761
Who being on Oath says that on Wednesday Evening last about
nine o'Clock as he was carrying a Box containing eighteen Scarlet
Cardinals to the Bell
in Friday Street
he overtook a Man now
present who calls himself Wm Hemmins< no role >
, near Bow Church
of whom he asked the way to Friday Street
, says said Hemmins
then went along with this Informt. to the Bell
in Friday Street
aforesaid, where, upon this Informant's knocking at the Gate
a Person opened itthe Gatewho was without a Hatt, who took
in the Box, and directed this Informt. to the next Alehouse
to call the Book keeper, says the said Hemmins went towards
the Alehouse door with this Informt. but soon left him
and upon this Informant's return, & not finding the Book keeper
at the Alehouse, he found that both the said Hemmins
and the Person who took in the Box were gone, as well
as his Box
