The King against Catherine Jones< no role >

John Winter< no role > of Stourton in the County of Stafford Apothecary and Ann< no role > the Wife of John
Thomas
< no role > of Bridgenorth in the County of Salop Tobacconist severally make Oath and say and
first the said Ann Thomas< no role > for herself Saith That on the Seventeenth day of December last
Catherine Jones< no role > Cousin German to this Dept. (and whom this Dept. informed and beleives is the Deft.
in this Cause) came to this Depts. house in Bridgnorth aforesaid in order to see two of her Children
which were then at Nurse in that Place The said Mrs. Jones on her Arrival there Appearing to this
Dept. in a bad State of Health sold this Dept. that she had for sometime past been greatly
indisposed in Berkshire with a Complication of Disorders And this Dept. further Saith that the
very next day after her Arrival at Bridgenorth aforesaid the said Jones told this Dept. that she
found herself much worse through the fatigues of the Journey Whereupon this Dept. told her
that She thought it Advisable for her to take the Opinion of an Apothecary Bur the Sd. Jones told
this Dept. that as She was under an Absolute Necessity of being in London to appear there in
Discharge of her Bail in a certain Cause (which this Dept. is informed and beleives this
to be the Cause in question) was the reason as this Dept. beleives why the said Jones did
not consent to Enter into a Course of Physick for the same And this Dept. Saith that on
Saturday the Twenty third day of the said Month of December the said Catherine Jones< no role >
set out from Bridgenorth on her Journey for London and the Dept. John Winter< no role > for
himself Saith that on Saturday the Twenty third day of December last he was sent for
in the Evening to the House of Edward Lynes< no role > in Stourton aforesaid in order to attend a
Gentlewoman there whom this Dept. upon Examination and Inquiry found to be in a
very dangerous Condition as to her health) and whom this Dept. in since Informed and
beleives was one Catherine Jones< no role > ) and thereupon this Dept. prescribed such Medicines as
he apprehended were prorper for a Person under her Disorder but they not affording Releif
She said Jones after Five Days attendance by this Deponent on the said Jones not with standing his atmost
Endeavours for her preservation departed this life and this Dept. saw her dead and is
Informed and beleives was buryed at Stourton aforesaid

Both Sworn at Fulham in the County of Middx
the 12th. Day of January 1744 Before.
