The Informations of James Wernham, Carpenter to
the Right Honble. Lord Southampton< no role > at the Grove house Highgate
Thomas Cox< no role > at Fitzroy. farm near Highgate Labourer
Joseph Empy< no role > of Hentish town Smith William Whitsey< no role > of Highgate Hill Labourer and John Bateman< no role >
of the Castle Kentish town Victualer taken on Oath
before met this 27th. day of July 1789.

Who being on Oath say and first the said James Wernham for
himself says that sometime between Tuesday morning and Thursday
morning last [..] was Ripped Cut and taken away from
off the Farm house near Highgate called Fitzroy farm a Quantity of
Lead the property of the said Lord Southampton< no role > and that he verily
beleives the Lead now produced to be the same as was so Stolen as
aforesaid And the said Thomas Cox< no role > for himself says that he is
employed at Fitzroy farm by the said Lord Southampon that the
Sack now produced is the property of his Lordship and was taken
away from the said farm in the night of Wednesday or early on
Thursday morning last And the said Joseph Empy for himself says
that on Thursday morning last between the hours of seven and eight
o Clock at the bottom of Highgate hill he saw the two persons now present
who calls themselves William Crosdale< no role > and John Leason< no role > pass by his
Shop in Company together that the said William Crosdale< no role > had the Sack now produced across
his Shoulders immediately after which William Whitsey< no role > came up and
this Informant said to him "I dare say those two men (meaning the said
William Crosdale< no role > and John Leason< no role > ) have got some thing that they
should not have and had not come honestly by that this Informant
and the said William Whitsey< no role > pursued them and they were taken into
Custody And the said William Whitsey< no role > for himself says that he pursued
the said two persons William Crosdale< no role > , and John Leason< no role > with the said
Informant Joseph Empy and took the said William Crosdale< no role > [..]
with the sack now produced on his back and the Lead therein that
Informant asked said William Crosdale< no role > how he came by said Sack
and Lead who replied that it dropp'd out of a Cart and that he
picked it up And the said John Bateman< no role > for himself says.
