Three pence and also One Sheep at Three Shillings per Stone which came to
One Pound Seven Shillings making together Two Pounds Three Shillings and
Three pence but said Thomas Sargeant< no role > did not receive any more than
Twelve Shillings & Six pence he refusing to taken the Remainder That
in the Evening the said Thos. Sargeant and the other Prisoners Thomas Smith< no role >
came to this Examinants said House and the said Thos. Smith< no role > bought the
Remaining four Sheep. That between five and Six oClock the ensuring
Morning the said Thomas Smith< no role > and one James Webster< no role > came and took
the Sheep away On the next day the said Thomas Sargeant< no role > and the
said person who was with him and brought the said Five Sheep and the said
James Webster< no role > came to Examt. said house and asked him to go and
Drink. The said Thomas Sargeant< no role > there said to Examinant he should
bring or send Ten or Twelve Sheep the next Morning and if he [..]
sent he should send a Note with them. That about Six of the
Clock the next Morning being Thursday the 15th. day of March Inst.
the said Thomas Smith< no role > and James Webster< no role > came to Examinants
house and knocked him up and brought their Tools with them
that whilst this Examt. was gone to Dress himself Smith said the
Sheep were come and when Examt. came down they had got but
two in soon after they brought in Seven more This Examinant
asked the said Thos. Sargeant why he did not mark them who said he
had nothing to mark them with This Examinant then fetched a blue
Ragandwhich was given by the said Thomas Smith< no role > to the said
Thomas Sargeant< no role > who immediatly marked them therewith on the
Rump they then went to the Public House whose they both Eat and Drank
This Examt. and the said Thomas Smith< no role > then went to kill the said Nine Sheep and
the others went awaythesaid Nine Sheep were Norfolk Whethers and
whilst they were killing the said Thomas Smith< no role > said they Die very
fat and is was a Sin they Should have it all this Examt. said he
would have nothing to do with that but the said Thos. Smith persuaded
Examinants Wife to take some of the Fatt as it would buy the Child a
Frock which was Sold at a Tallow Chandlers by this Examinants
Father and the said Thomas Smith< no role > received four Shillings of the
Money When they had done killing the said Thomas Sargeant< no role > James
Webster
< no role > and a Lad who Assisted Sargeant in bringing the Sheep returned
and came into the Yard soon after the said Thomas Smith< no role > offered to
Sargeant Ten Pounds for the Nine Sheep but he only bought Seven
of them at Two Shillings and Ten pence per Stone and this Examinant
bought the other two at the same price this was at the Red Cross
in Hare Street On the Ensuring Morning being Friday the said
