John Morris< no role > one of the Watchmen of St George Hanover
Square living at Bayswater upon his Oath Saith that
on Thursday last in the Afternoon a Woman who
boards with Deponent and his Daughter a Child
of Six Years Old had been walking in the Fields
And the Child told him they saw a Man and
Woman going to bury a Child in the field by the
Conduit Upon which he immediately went to
Thomas Wright< no role > another Watchman who lives
near Deponent and they immediately went to
the place having first desired Wright to put a
pistol in his pocketWhen they came into the
Field saw the Man & Woman Setting under the
Hedge side near the ConduitThey immediately
asked Deponent and his Companion if they were
looking for the Childhe said Yes. and asked them
to shew where it wasthey did soAnd found the
deceased laying in a broken box the Sides of which
weremakeunnailed just then a Second Man and Woman came up The first Woman Said She Saw
thea Corner of the box laying out of the Earth in a
Ditch in the field and had told the other Man and Woman of it and that she took hold of it
saw the feet of the ChildUpon this Deponent and
his Companion acquainted the parish Officers with
what had happened.
