but now a private man in his Majesty's 29th. Regiment
of Foot now quartered at Chatham Barracks
in the County of
Kent
taken before me one of his Majesty's Justices of the
peace in and for the said County of Kent this 24th. day of
April 1775

This Examinant the said John Windon< no role >
doth voluntarily confess and say
that being a Servant
in husbandry to Mr. George Butler< no role >
of Lampton
above mentioned
Farmer
and lodging in the sd. George Butlers dwelling house he the sd. John
Windon did on Monday the third day of April instant steal from out of the
lodging room of John Newman< no role >
and David Dowsett< no role >
both of Servants
to the
said George Butler< no role >
in the dwelling house of the said George Butler, one pair
of newskinbuckskin breeches, a pair of Light colour worsted stockings a red
and white silk handkerchief a light colour Cloath Coat and a red Waistcoat
the property of the said John Newman< no role >
, and also out of the same lodging room one
pair of shoes, a pair of Copper Shoe buckles a Dark brown silk Handkerchief-
striped with red and blew the property of the said David Dowsett< no role >
, and that
he this Examinant did then give the things above mentioned (except the
pair of Stockings shoes and buckles which this examinant now hath on)
to his Comrade whose name he does not know recollect but believes his
name to be White, in order for them to dispose of them for this Examinant
