AN INQUISITION Indented, Taken for our Sovereign Lord the King, at the Parish of
Enfield in the County of
Middlesex , the twenty fourth Day of July in the twenty second Year of the Reign of our
Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third , by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain, France, and
Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas Phillips< no role >
one of the Coroners of our said Lord the King for the said County, on View of the Body of
Joseph Smith< no role > then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of
Thomas Harwood< no role > , Joseph Slade< no role > , John Coster< no role > , John Munns< no role > , John Ring< no role > , John Chesall, James
Dresdale, Robert Lake< no role > , Thomas Forster< no role > , Robert Crosby< no role > , Joseph Leach< no role > , Jabez Warner,

good and lawful Men of the said County, duly chosen, and who being then and there duly
sworn and charged to inquire, for our said Lord the King, when, how, and by what Means, the
said Joseph Smith< no role > came to his
Death, Do, upon their Oath, say, That The said Joseph Smith< no role > on the Twenty second
Day of July in the Year aforesaid being a Labourer at Work at a Hay Rickthen making
at Wm Sharps Lodge on Enfield Chase in the Parish and County aforesaid It so happened
That he the said Joseph Smith< no role > then and there accidentally, casually and by misfortune
fell from the said Hay Rick to and upon the Ground By means whereof he the said
Joseph Smith< no role > then and there received divers mortal Bruises in and upon the Head
[..] Body [..] Joseph< no role > Smith [..] mortal Bruises to the said

IN WITNESS whereof, as well the said Coroner as the said Thomas Harwood< no role >
the Foreman of the said Jurors, on the Behalf of himself and the Rest of his said Fellows, in
their Presence, have, to this Inquisition, set their Hands and Seals, the Day and Year first
above written.
