And 2 Guineas from the Bishop of Chester and 2 Guineas from the Revd.
Dr. Gregory both for the use of the incurables.

Resolved that the thanks of this Court be communicated to Mrs. Gardiner and
the above Gentlemen for their kind and Charitable donation.

Clerk's Letter
Apology for
Non. Attendance Etc


All this Court the President reported he had received the following Letter
from the Clerk of these Hospitals.

My Lords and Gentlemen

"It is with extrem concern I am under the Necessity of informing
"you that from severe indisposition I cannot have the Honour
"of attending the Court tomorrow for the Election of Officers for
"the ensuing Year"

"I beg leave to return my most sincere thanks to
"the Court, and the Gentlemen of the different Committees, for
"their great indulgence in having permitted my Son to attend
"for me during my illness, and hope my Personal attendance
"upon the present occasion will be dispensed with, and that
"I shall have the Honour of being re-elected Your Clerk.

"I have great reason to hope that in a few month my
"Health will be re-established to enable me to return to my
"Duty which I beg leave to assure you will afford much real
"satisfaction to
