Continued Thursday 17th. June 1773

Their Charge Against her as a Vagrant, and also to Refremand
Thomas Gates< no role > Edward Wilson< no role > John Evans< no role > & John Floyd< no role > who
were also called upon to give Evidence against sundry persons
taken up by them and Committed by the Lord Mayor as Vagrants
to this House and who severally neglected to appear before this
Court to Support their Charges against the said several Vagrants
altho' they were likewise duly Summoned for that purpose And it
is Ordered that the Clerk of this Hospital do Signifye such
Opinion & Recommendation to the Lord Mayor Accordingly

governors Reported that in Pursuance of an Order of Court of the
8th. April last they had made an Inquiry and found that James
Penney
< no role > late Apprentice to Joseph Sharpe< no role > is set up for himself in
his Trade and has the Character of a diligent and Sober Man
It is Ordered that the Stasard Do pay the said James
Penny
< no role > Ten pounds out of Mr. Locks gift to be allowed him in
his next Account

Gratuity to Porter of

A Motion being made that in regard to the Extraordinary
diligence of Mr. John Brown< no role > the Porter of this Hospital a
Gratuity be given him for his good Services for the time past &
the Sum of £39 being proposed and the Question put It is
Ordered that the Clerk Do pay the said John Brown< no role > £39 to
be allowed him in his next Account.

Gratuity to Mr. Mary
Lapthorne
< no role > the Matron of
20 Guineas


It is Ordered that Mrs. Mary Lapthorne< no role > the Matron
of this Hospital have a Gratuity of 20 Guineas on Account
of her Age Infirmities and Ill State of Health and that the
Clerk do pay the same and be allowed it in his next
account.
