Beadles Grat ½ yr. Xmas 1757


Upon Reading the humble Petition of the four Beadles & Porterman
of this Hospital for their Usual gratuitys of Forty shillings a peice for the half year
ending at Christmass last for their Salarys are but Small It is Orderd that he
Clerk of these Hospitals do paymnts them Forty shillings a peice to be Allowed
him in his next Account.

Memorial of Jas. Leigh Perrot< no role > Esqr. who holds the Rectory of Northleigh in the County of Oxford part
of the Possions of Bridewell Hospl. under a Lease from the Govrs which will Expire at Michas
1759 which by Order of Court the 22d. of Decembr. last was referr'd to the Comittee being now read
Praying the Governors to Join with Him in a Petition to Parliament for leave to bring in
a Bill for Dividing & Incloseing the Common fields of Northleigh aforesdAnd Mr. Perrot being
Present Acquainted the Comee the thesd. Rectory Consists of a Small Passage house and 2 Barns
& 23½ Ands of Statue Glebe-land & the Great Tythes & half of the Grass Tythes (the Vicar
having the other half) and a right of Common in the Common fieldsthe whole has been left
for many Years Pass't to Tenants at Will and it is now let to Edward Calcutt< no role > at £120 P Ann
out of wch. Mr. Perrot pays to the Hospital £20 P Ann rent & the Land tax Poors-rates
Constables rates & other Parish Charges & all repairsAnd that the Governors may be
certain of an Advantage in all Events if such a Bill shou'd pass this Sessions He
made and Signed the following Offer.

Additional Proposal}


I will take a New Lease of the Lands which shall be Allotted to the Govrs. for or in lien of the
Rectory Glebe-lands Mansion house & Tythes with the Appartes for 31 Years from the
Expiration of the Lease in being & will pay them the same Fine & rent as was given for
the Leave in being & will be at the Expence of IncloseingBut if they will pay the
Expence of Incloseing I will then pay them and Additional rent of £20 a Year clear of
all Taxes and lisewise £4- a Year for every £100 wch the sd. Inclosive shall Costs the
HospitalAnd if between this time and Michas 1759 They can find a Tenant
who will give them more I will either give them as much as they can have from
any body close. Or I will upon Demand Release & Surrender up to them All my Right
& Till to the said Allotted Lands & premesAnd Mr. Perrot being with drawn
The Comittee Examined into the Matter and find that the Fine paid for the Lease
in being was £1100 & the rent £20 P Ann which is what Mr. Perrot now proposes to
pay for a New Lease for 31 Years And also at his Expence to Inclose the lands [..]
shall be Allotted to the Govrs. in lien of the sd. Rectory Glebe lands & Tythes with the
Appurtes. If they can not in the mean time get a Tenant who will give them more
which they remains at Liberty to doand this Comee having Considerd the same are
ofareOpinion it will be an Advantage to the Hospital to have the said Common field Lands
Divided and Inclosed All wch is Never the less submitted to the Judgmt. of the Court
And also a Clause being read in the Draught of a Bill proposed to be offered where by an
Allotment is to be made to the Hospital of Bridewell of Lands in her ofe in Compensation for
their TythesThis Court haveing duly weighed and Consider'd the same Doth Co [..]
said Report And Order that Mr. Taylor do for and on behalf of the Governors of
Bridewell Sign a Petition to Parliament for leave to bring in a Bill for Dividing & Incloseing
the Common fields of Northleigh in Oxfordshire.
