Upon reading a Report from the Comee of this house dated
the 20th day of Octor last in these words viztSeveral
persons in the Isle of Thanet who had made applycacon to become
Tenants haveing had notice that this Comittee would Sitt this morning
in order to receive proposals and make an Agreemt. for Letting of
Cliffes End Farme
in the parish of St. Lawrence
in the Isle of Thanet
in the County of Kent
being the Gift of Mr
John Parsons< no role >
to the
hospital of Bethlem
and now in the occupacon of
James Taddy< no role >
at
the rent of £100 P Annm under a Lease made by the same Parsons to
Richd Taddy< no role >
which expired at Michas
last The several proposals following were laid before this Comee
vizt

ye present Tenant
Proposed to take a Lease for 21 yeares att £100 P Annm and to be
obliged to repaire the Glass windowes and to keep the hedges & Fences
in repaire haveing liberty to Top the ashes and Shread the Elmes for
that purpose without damageing the Trees and to find Straw for
thatching and to putt in a freind who should reside upon the premisses
And all other repaires to be done att the Governor
s. Charge the Tenant
only to be obliged to fetch the materials wth in five Miles distance of ye premes
Or to give £90. P Annn and to be obliged to all repaires (Except
in case of five or high winds) the Governor
s allowing only rough Timber
and earth to make Bricks which may be had upon ye premesand
then withdrew
And the sd. Roger Taddy< no role >
being called in agen was as bid if he
would make any further proposeal he then offered on behalfe of
himselfe and his Bror. the sd James Taddy< no role >
to pay £150 fine & £80. P
Annn and to be obliged to all Repairer and to take a Lease wth usual
Covenants to Comence from Michas last and left it to the Governor

they think fitt to make them an allowance as is usual of-rough
Timber for necessary repaires of the premisses-and then wthdrew.

s. to
put ye premies in repaire except Thatching which he is willing to do & to keep ye
premes in repaire (Except fire & Wind) the Governor
s allowing Timber and
materials & he to be att the Charge of Workmanship-and then withdrew
And being called in again & asked if he would make any further proposal
he answered no& withdrew
